Greetings from school staff.  We are all looking forward to catching up with on Tuesday 31st January, when we open for the 2012 school year.  Hopefully you are well rested, rejuvenated and ready for another exciting school year.  To new children, starting for the first time at Halswell, a special welcome.  Hopefully you enjoy our school as much as we do and enjoy success in all of your learning.

Halswell Primary School is an exciting and vibrant full primary school in the Christchurch suburb of Halswell.

Our school is well resourced, with a caring, professional staff, and a supportive parent network.

Halswell School caters for children from Year 0 through to Year 8 (5 to 13 years of age)

We provide a wide range of opportunities for our students including music tuition, camps, sporting events, access to a range of technology, senior Marae visits, and many other exciting activities. We also provide a well balanced classroom programme that caters for the needs of all of our students.

Halswell School was first open in 1864 and has a long history of providing quality education to the young learners who have attended. Our Mission is to have all children enjoying ‘Lifelong Success Through Learning’. To achieve this we believe children perform best when enjoying themselves, that their learning is likely to advance more significantly when challenged by appropriate stimulating experiences and when they have a trusting relationship with an excellent teacher. We aim to develop young literate learners, capable of working co-operatively, who are ACTIVE, who dare to ask multifaceted questions and have mastered the skills to create workable solutions to complex problems.
